# 1: September 10, 2017

The SongCraft Symposium is a public examination of the catchiest ever subject matter - songwriting. Many people have tried songwriting, and many more have considered giving it a go - so how exactly does one go about bringing music into existence?

On September 10, 2017, we explored the process of creation with Melbourne's neo-soul angel Allysha Joy, our feature performer and vocalist of local legends 30/70. Having shared her entrancing keyboard arrangements and gutsy vocals as far away as Europe, Allysha also talked about her journey into constant creation and writing high-power melodies.

The event began with a showcase featuring some awesome local talent, including the powerful poetess Fleassy Malay, the miracle who is Anelie Joy, and original material by Catterina Tilby.

The experiments continued with JAM SCHOOL, as we probe our funky jammers for clues, including local stars like SNED MusicJames M. Fahy,NeekoDaniel PinkertonRaph BowenDanika Smith and Max Rähmer.

Hosted by Joe Oppenheimer, the Symposium is a hunt for the essentials of songwriting: melodies, mindset and messages, and celebrating the incredible liberation that creative living can bring to us all.

Note: there's also a singalong.

On November 12, we explored the process of creation with Australia's insatiable adventurer, Danny Ross. Having recently finished an album and recorded singles as far away as Cuba, his haunting guitar arrangements and stunning compositions are a cut above. He'll be sharing some of his insights into the creative process, as well as wild memories from the road and his epic tunes which capture them.

The event contains a showcase featuring startlingly quality local talent, including the original material of Lucy Graham and Aya-Rosa AKA Jiveny Blair-West.
