Songcraft Intensive: Singing Dreams, Making Songs - Joe Oppenheimer

THE SONGCRAFT METHOD: This jam-packed one-day programme explores the art of songwriting from the ground up, starting with such questions as:

  • What are songs, and why do we love them so much?
  • What does a songwriting journey look like, from inspiration to completion?
  • What tools and techniques can songwriters use to develop their songwriting?
  • What roles do emotion and reason play in great songwriting?

Most songwriters begin their creative journeys by stumbling around in the dark and doing their best to emulate the music that has inspired them. After years of trial-and-error, those who have persevered start to get amazing results while those who don’t… don’t.

But what if you could learn from someone who’s already been down that road?

Songcraft is a methodology created by Australian musician Joe Oppenheimer, for exactly the purpose of passing on advanced songwriting knowledge to those wanting to express themselves in the art of song.

Having written hundreds of songs in diverse styles, from folk/pop to electronica, instrumental and experimental; and co-written with many collaborators and clients, Joe has distilled the crucial aspects of the songwriting process into a simple method he'll share in this one-day intensive, packed with tips and techniques to inspire and instantly motivate.

From understanding how the key aspects of song fit together to crafting a song for peak performance; this body of work is perfect to help songwriters master the basic process of writing songs while honing their songwriting techniques and writing freely - writing more often as well as from a deeper place, about things you never would have expected...

What past students say:

  • "Joe is a natural musical mentor. He has a gift for unearthing and catapulting musical talents that are sometimes buried deep within. His unique model and approach to songwriting is the perfect balance of theory and creative. It brings a logical methodology, to what can otherwise seem to be quite an elusive process.”

  • "It's very cool, and such a different perspective and approach from what's already out there.”
    Austin Dunmore, Musician
